October Deadline

Young Arts:

YoungArts provides emerging artists with life-changing experiences with renowned mentors, access to significant scholarships, national recognition, and other opportunities throughout their careers to help ensure that the nation’s most outstanding young artists are encouraged to pursue careers in the arts. Support is offered in ten artistic disciplines: cinematic arts, dance, design, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice and writing.

Eligibility: Citizens or legal residents of the United States or U.S. Territories who are age 15-18 on December 1, or in grades 10-12.

Amount: Up to $10,000 monetary award

To apply you must meet the requirements, complete an online application, pay a $35 (non-refundable) application fee (per category; fee waivers are available) and submit an online audition portfolio. Students may apply to more than one discipline/category. Apply at Deadline: October 16, 2020

College JumpStart Scholarship:

This scholarship opportunity is an annual merit-based competition (financial need is considered).

Eligibility: Grades 10-12, committed to going to school and be able to express your goals for getting a higher education.

Amount: $1000

South Florida Fair Scholarship:

This scholarship is for high school seniors who plan to attend an accredited institution of higher learning.

Requirements: Essay, two letters of recommendation, transcript

Amount: $2000 - $6000

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship

Eligibility: Students who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.

Amount: $2,500 to $20,000

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program

Eligibility: graduating senior, intend to enroll in a 4 year college, minimum unweighted GPA 3.5, SAT 1200 minimum or ACT 26 minimum composite, demonstrate unmet financial need (will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000).

Amount: The amount of the award varies by student, based on the cost of attendance as well as the amount of other scholarships or grants a recipient will receive. The maximum amount of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s scholarship is $40,000 per year. In some extenuating circumstances, the Foundation may exceed the maximum cap if significant unmet financial need has been determined. Each award may fund all or a portion of educational costs, including tuition, room and board, books, and other required fees for the period required to complete your bachelor’s degree program (lasting no more than four years).This highly competitive scholarship includes:

  • Up to $40,000 per year to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school
  • Ability to pursue any area of study
  • Personal advising about selecting a college and navigating financial aid
  • Multifaceted advising about how to transition to college and maximize the college student experience

Amount: 250 scholarships will be awarded- $10,000 or $20,000.

The Elks Lodge Most Valuable Student Scholarship

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2021 competition. Male and female students compete separately. Applicants are judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. The 20 Top Finalists traditionally participate in an all-expenses paid Leadership Weekend in Chicago during which they will interview with the national judges vying for various award amounts based on placements

Eligibility: Current high school senior, US Citizens, pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.

Amount: $1,000 to $12,500 per year

Equitable Excellence℠ Scholarship Program
This Scholarship Program closes on December 15, 2020 3:00 pm or when 10,000 applications are submitted, whichever occurs first.
Equitable Foundation has established the Equitable Excellence℠ Scholarship Program to assist high school seniors who are planning to continue their education at a two- or four-year college in the United States by Fall 2021.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. In compliance with Federal law, this program will not discriminate in the terms, conditions or privileges of participation on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability or sexual orientation.

Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE)

Eligibility: High school seniors are invited to submit in-depth essays. The Prompt- In a persuasive letter or essay, convince your peers that free speech is a better idea than censorship. There is much more detailed information regarding specific requirements on the website. 

Amount: One student receives a $5,000 scholarship; one student receives a $2,500 scholarship and five runners up will receive $1,000 scholarships.

January Deadline

Ron Brown Scholars Program

Eligibility- African American high school senior who will make a significant contribution to society, excel academically, exceptional leadership potential, financial need, community service, US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card.

Amount: 20 or more students will win $40,000 scholarships each! The recipients may use the renewable scholarships to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the United States. Ron Brown Scholarships are not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline.

Valentine Bates Memorial HOPE Scholarship

The mission of the C. Valentine Bates Memorial HOPE scholarship is to provide financial support for the educational needs of high school seniors without which they would not be able to achieve their educational goals. Special consideration is given to those students who have shouldered extra responsibility such as working throughout their high school career to help provide support for siblings or family.

Eligibility: High school senior, resident of Florida, US citizen, has maintained a 2.3 to 3.3 unweighted GPA, demonstrated leadership through employment, participation in school activities, community service, and citizenship.

Amount: $3000 - $10,000

Florida Retired Educators Foundation

For high school seniors who wish to become teachers in the State of Florida.

Eligibility: Graduating senior, commitment to service, with special interest in teaching children and youth, economic need, participation and leadership in school and community activities, SAT (minimum score of 1,000 or above on Reading and Math sections) or ACT (22 or above).

Amount: $4000 over a four-year period ($1000 per year)

Applications can be submitted online at or via mail. Once the online application has been started, it cannot be saved. You will have to start over. Deadline: January 20, 2021

Public Education and Citizenship

A statewide essay program to continue Freemasonry’s support of the youth in our society and to reinforce our belief in the Public-School Systems in our nation.

Eligibility: Graduating senior who will be attending a State of Florida Supported Institution during the following term. Essay must be 1,000 – 1,250 words and format adhered to.

George Snow Scholarship Fund

This scholarship offers 4-year college scholarships and wrap around services (i.e. mentoring, free computers or college cash stipend, etc.). The award can be used at any accredited 2-year, 4-year college or technical school that is in or out of state.

Eligibility: Graduating high school senior, demonstrates financial need

Amount: Average award is $10,000

Jackie Robinson Foundation

Eligibility: Minority high school seniors with demonstrated leadership and financial need.

Amount: Up to $7500 per year

Florida PTSA High School Scholarship Program

This award is specifically for a student who wishes to pursue their education full-time at a University, Fine Arts School, Community College, or Vo-Tech (a minimum of one scholarship awarded in each category).

Eligibility: Must be a member of your school’s PTA/PTSA, unofficial transcript with identified GPAs, SAT and/or ACT score report, two letters of recommendation, and an essay is required.

Amount: $2000 non-renewable, one-year scholarship and sent directly to the school of your choice. Apply online at Deadline: February 1, 2021

Arts for Life

This award is for students who demonstrate excellence in one of the following art forms: Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Music or Visual Art.

Eligibility: Graduating high school senior, submit brief essay and a portfolio

Amount: $1000 per recipient

The Elks Lodge Legacy Award

Eligibility: High school senior who is the child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined on or before April 1, 2018 or a charter member of the Lodge. Test score requirement waived for 2021.

Amount: $4000 ($1000 per year for four years). Winners are required to perform service once a year with an Elks Lodge during the four years they receive the scholarship
